Candidates must complete the following steps.  Applicants can also access this helpful how to apply video.

    1)      Complete an application:

    1. We recommend applying through our online service; however, a paper application may also be used.
    2. We have several reports to choose from, so please advise your applicant according to the purpose for which the report will be used (be sure to list that the purpose of the report is for the State Bar of California when applying):
    3. General Report ($85) – shows the country, dates and institution of study and recommends an equivalency.
    4. Detail Report ($165) – in addition to the above lists the courses taken, the grades and credits/hours earned and the GPA.

Detail Report with Course Level Identification ($185) – in addition to the above lists the course levels (upper/lower division, graduate, etc.).

    2)      Submit the necessary documentation and fees:

    1. For Country-Specific Requirements (you can find the PDF version here)

    3)      For records not issued in English, translations are also required. These must be issued in the same format as the original documents, line-by-line, word-for-word. IERF has negotiated a special discount with University Language Services for our applications who use their translation services. You can contact them directly through their website to learn more about their services.

If applying online payment can be made via credit card at that time; if submitting a paper application our Credit Card Information Form can be used.

Our standard turn-around time is 15 days from the receipt of all requested documentation and fees. Should the report be required more quickly, we do offer rush services (10-day rush for $60; 5-day rush for $85; 24-hour rush for $200).

The application fee includes one official copy (which comes in a sealed envelope) and one applicant copy. Once you are ready to apply, and have determined which application you need, the Applications and Requirements section will walk you step-by-step through:
