Law school involves a heavy workload, complex material, critical thinking and a different teaching method than most undergraduates are used to. Many students find the first year (“1L”) the most challenging due to the new teaching methods and heavier workload. The student is to learn how to apply the learned principles and concepts of contracts to various fact patterns.
The classes consist of the teaching of the substantive law through the traditional casebook method and lecture, and multiple-choice workshops and essay workshops that include the analytical application of the substantive law to various multiple-choice and essay fact patterns.
TIME MANAGEMENT
Law school requires excellent time management skills to balance academics, extracurricular activities, and personal life.
Setting aside time to watch lectures, casebook reading and weekly case briefs is critical to optimize your chances of success. Law school can be an incredibly rewarding yet demanding experience for law students. Adjusting to the expectations and new material presented in each law school course can often be overwhelming. To stay organized and make time for self-care, law students should prioritize their studies by identifying tasks that should be done first based on their deadlines. law students should practice good self-care habits such as eating well, getting enough sleep, and making time to relax and socialize to achieve optimal results in law school.
CAREER EXPECTIONS
Law school can lead to a variety of careers beyond traditional legal practice. While many graduates become practicing lawyers, others pursue roles in consulting, investment banking, public policy, or entrepreneurship.
